Candlelight Peace Vigil

Like the photo showing the crowd -- it gives the viewer a sense of how many people actually attended. The P-R's coverage was to run a pic showing six people sitting in the grass with a caption underneath about the peace vigil. My first thought reading the newspaper was, "only five people showed up?" Then I came to your blog and got a better sense of what went on there. If the P-R didn't want (or didn't get) a crowd shot, they should have at least estimated the number of the crowd in their (brief) reporting.
Also, the PR captioned those in attendance as "protesters". Hmmm... protesting for peace. Oxymoron much?
As you may have noticed my post only tells the story through images. I debated whether or not to add text but I thought my visual coverage said enough. I'm not a journalist in the traditional sense.
As for the PR, maybe the editor decided that a more intimate shot of four people was representative of the mood during the event. But you're right: there should have been a mnetion in the photo caption about how many people attended.
The PR photographer was there, shooting from various angles. One of his shots must have given a view of the crowd. Since he was busy taking images, there should have been a reporter around to observe and get some quotes.
I must admit that it's hard to cover an event simultaneously as a writer and photographer. You can't do justice to either activity. Another reason why I didn't write some text about the vigil.
